Marta and I have been doing as many short runs as we can pack into our schedule. She's faster than I am and it really pushes me. It's good to push the shorter runs and pick up the pace, but I need to be mindful to slow down the pace for the longer runs. The goal for Grandma's marathon is to finish, not win. The IDEO brace I wear is about 2 pounds, maybe more. The reality of that fact is that I will be slower than other runners, at least at this point in my training. Practice, practice, practice.
Here are the stats from the run we completed this evening. The weather is getting better and the sky is light until after 9 pm now, so evening running is more pleasurable than when it's dark, 10 degrees out. I feel like I have more energy under these conditions. Saturday wether is looking to be in the upper 40s, which will be perfect for our 18 mile trail run! 2 of the other members of our marathon team will lead us on that run and you can be certain I'll whine in a blog about the pain. I can't wait for that- good training!
